Three injured in icy road accident on A73: closure
Three people were slightly injured in an icy accident on the Autobahn 73 in Upper Franconia. The highway had to be closed in the direction of Suhl for four hours. Over 120,000 euros worth of damage was also caused, as the police reported on Saturday.
A 48-year-old wanted to overtake an articulated lorry near Meeder (Coburg district) on Saturday morning. He lost control of his car, crashed into the side of the truck and then into the central crash barrier. The articulated lorry came to a standstill across both lanes. The 24-year-old articulated lorry driver, his co-driver and the 48-year-old car driver sustained minor injuries.
This icy road condition in Upper Franctionia has led to numerous traffic incidents, including the recent accident on the A73. Despite the closure, it's crucial for motorists to exercise extra caution due to the high risk of accidents in such weather conditions.
