Traffic - Three injured in an accident at the end of a traffic jam on the A61
At an accident on the A61 motorway during a traffic jam near Niederzissen and Sinzig, a truck collided with a stationary trailer. According to the police in Mendig, a 23-year-old truck driver failed to notice the trailer on the right lane in time. The collision resulted in injuries for three people. The 26-year-old passenger of the truck was seriously injured, while the driver and another 18-year-old passenger also sustained injuries. All three were taken to hospitals.
The driver of the trailer remained unharmed, but both vehicles were reportedly not drivable according to the information. The Autobahn was closed in the northbound direction for one and a half hours, with the right lane initially being blocked.
