- Three individuals facing trial for alleged attempted homicide.
Hanau (dpa) – Three individuals are set to face trial today (starting at 9:00 AM) at the Hanau Regional Court, accused of attempted murder and causing grievous bodily harm. The prosecution claims that these three individuals, ranging in age from 22 to 31, targeted a 47-year-old in his Hanau residence.
The men are believed to have arrived at the victim's apartment armed with a collapsible baton and a handgun, before knocking on the door on the third floor. Upon seeing the trio through a crack, the 47-year-old heard death threats, promptly shutting the door immediately. According to the prosecution, the trio then attempted to force their way in, with the 31-year-old principal defendant allegedly firing ten shots point-blank at the lock, the door, and the victim behind it.
Potential motive: Retribution
A projectile is said to have pierced the door and subsequently lodged in the kitchen floor. Fortunately, the 47-year-old remained unscathed. The prosecution suspects retribution as the motive, with family disputes serving as the underlying cause. The jury has initially set aside six trial days until the end of September.
The defendants' alleged motive for the attack on the 47-year-old was due to some ongoing family disputes, which fall under the category of other personal issues. The prosecutor plans to present various pieces of evidence, including witness testimonies and other relevant documents, to establish this motive in court.
