Football - Three government officials show interest in European Cup games.
In North Rhine-Westphalia, most of the twelve ministers haven't arranged official trips to football matches during the European Championship. According to a dpa survey, only three have laid out their plans so far. The current status of Minister President Hendrik Wüst (CDU) is undetermined.
"We kindly request patience, as we can't provide information for the Chancellery at present," shared a spokesperson for Wüst. "We'll let you know about media-related appointments as soon as possible." However, many ministries disclosed details about their attendance two weeks prior to the tourney.
Herbert Reul (CDU), the Interior Minister of the state, intends to witness select games both as a fan and as a minister - as long as his schedule permits. These games include the Round of 16 matches in Dortmund on June 29th and Cologne on June 30th, the quarter-final in Düsseldorf on July 6th, and the semi-final in Dortmund on July 10th.
Mona Neubaur (Greens) is also set to spectate games in North Rhine-Westphalia, according to a spokesperson. "Her attendance will be accommodated by the hosting cities," they added, without mentioning specific dates.
Home Minister Ina Scharrenbach (CDU) has planned to attend Spain versus Italy in Gelsenkirchen on June 20th, as well as the Round of 16 match in Schalke on June 30th.
All remaining ministers and representatives don't plan to make any official visits to stadiums for games at this time. As shared by a spokesperson for the Environment Ministry, "Our executives won't be present at the European Championship matches in the arena but will, like other enthusiastic football supporters, watch games from outside."
