Crime - Three fires in the Munich area: police investigate connection
Three fires in the Munich area have caused damage of at least a quarter of a million euros in just a few hours. The police are now investigating a possible connection, as a police spokeswoman said on Tuesday. According to the statement, a cable shaft of a temporary bridge on the Isar was initially on fire early on Monday morning. The fire was extinguished and the bridge temporarily closed.
Just three and a half hours later, a work machine caught fire in Forstenrieder Park to the southwest(Munich district). There were no injuries, but around 250,000 euros worth of damage was caused, a police spokesman explained. Barely twenty minutes later, another machine was on fire - in the nearby Perlacher Forst. Investigators were initially unable to provide an estimate of the damage.
The "Raute" investigation team is investigating, they added. It was already involved in the investigation into the suspected arson attack on a geothermal construction site in the district of Munich at the end of October.
