Three corpses discovered in the Mexican area where American and Australian tourists vanished, according to reports.
There's been no confirmation yet as to whether the discovered corpses match up with the three missing holidaymakers, a source revealed.
These remains have surfaced close to Ensenada municipality in Baja California, according to two security officials and a member of an organization that focuses on locating missing individuals.
As per Reuters, and the Baja California prosecutor's office, the trio - American Jack Carter Rhoad and Australian brothers Jake and Callum Robinson - vanished on April 29th. These friends are said to have been enjoying a surfing adventure and camping trip near Ensenada town, around 100 kilometers south of Tijuana.
Mexican authorities had earlier mentioned that while searching the area, a vehicle, tents, and a cell phone had been unearthed. Three Mexican citizens are being held for questioning in conjunction with the case, but their role isn't clear.
A single source stated that the spot where the bodies were uncovered is tricky to reach and will require the use of climbing gear to recover them. The area is situated approximately 50 miles from Ensenada town.
A US State Department representative confided in CNN that they're well aware of the reports concerning the bodies' discovery and are closely following the progress, stating: "For now, we have no further comment."
