Tragic Bombing Incident in Kharkiv: Scores Wounded, at Least Three Die in Russian Attack
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy posted on Telegram evidence of a damaged building with a massive crater in front of it, allegedly the result of guided bombs. He asserted that at least 52 individuals were harmed in the attack, including three minors, as reported by the prosecutor's office. The regional governor, Oleh Synyehubov, announced that medical professionals were battling to save four of the injured.
For over a month now, Russia has launched more than 2400 guided bombs against Ukraine, with approximately 700 of them in the Charkiw region, according to Zelenskyy. He deemed this as "calculated terror."
It has recently surfaced in the Russian newspaper "Rossijskaja Gazeta" that Moscow is using such guided bombs in Ukraine. These weapons can be deployed from the ground or the air, making it nearly impossible to anticipate an assault.
The second largest city of Ukraine has faced Russian artillery fire regularly since the initiation of the Russian aggression conflict. In early May, the Russian military launched a ground offensive in the Charkiw region, resulting in larger territorial expansions. Since then, attacks on the city of Charkiw have intensified. A guided bomb attack on a hardware store in the city during the past month claimed 16 lives.
In the night leading to Saturday, Russia once more attacked Ukraine's energy infrastructure using cruise missiles and drones. Two workers sustained injuries in Saporischschja, according to Ukrenergo, the energy supplier. In the Lwiw region, a significant energy facility experienced a fire, as per regional governor Maksym Kosyzki.
The Russian Defense Ministry declared on Saturday that Russian troops had attacked Ukrainian energy facilities, which supply weapon production, as well as warehouses storing weapons supplied from the West. "All designated targets were hit," they stated.
Since the beginning of the Russian aggression war in February 2022, Russia has been targeting Ukraine's energy infrastructure using rockets and drones. These attacks cause power outages and energy shortages, with Zelenskyy stating that the country can now produce only half the electricity it did prior to the war.
The Ukrainian army reported combats near the towns of Pokrovsk and Torezk in the eastern part of the country in the Donezk region. Russia is allegedly amassing "significant troops" there and has quickened its advance. The Russian Defense Ministry declared that Russian troops had bolstered their positions in the regions of Donezk, Luhansk, and Charkiw.
