Three Abandoned London Babies Identified as Siblings in Relationship
A London resident came across a newborn tucked in a grocery sack in January, prompting a call to emergency services. The infant, dubbed Baby Elsa, was rushed to the hospital and later identified by staff.
A DNA examination revealed Baby Elsa to have two brothers, Baby Harry (found in Plaistow in September 2017) and Baby Roman (found in Newham in January 2019), all of whom were abandoned in the same region of the British capital in similar circumstances. The parents of these babies have yet to be identified.
Judge Carol Atkinson deemed it necessary for the media to report on the case on Monday, lifting the restrictions on reporting on minors and family matters. According to her, "abandoning a baby is a rare occurrence in this country, and there are occasions when no children are abandoned," so revealing the connection between the three siblings falls under the public's interest.
Baby Elsa was thought to have been born less than an hour ago on the 18th of January in East Ham, London. Baby Roman was discovered near a playground in Newham in bitterly cold weather at the end of January 2019, while Baby Harry was found in the same condition in Plaistow in September 2017. The parents of these children are still unknown.
Both Baby Harry and Roman have found adoptive families, but no decision has been made regarding Baby Elsa's future.
