Threat against left-wing center: State security investigates
A music event at the left-wing cultural center Komplex in Schwerin has been postponed due to a threatening letter. The letter announced an attack on the party planned for Friday evening, the cultural center announced on its website. "The sender is not known, but the contents of the letter indicate that it is from the extreme right-wing spectrum," it said. For security reasons, the event is to be rescheduled for another date.
A spokesperson for the Schwerin police confirmed on Friday when asked that the threat had come to the attention of the police on Wednesday. The organizers had filed a complaint. State security is now investigating the disturbance of the public peace by threatening criminal offences and the use of symbols of unconstitutional organizations. The spokesman added that he could not provide any information on the police measures. The "Schweriner Volkszeitung" had previously reported on the threatening letter.
The cultural center also announced that there had been several incidents with a suspected right-wing extremist background in recent months. For example, a swastika had been carved into a toilet wall and the words "Das Haus muss fallen" (The house must fall) had been written on a wall.
The investigation by state security extends beyond just the recent threatening letter, as they are also examining instances of extremist crimes at the cultural center, such as the carving of a swastika and the writing of "Das Haus muss fallen." The incident has underscored the growing concern about the presence of crime and extremism in the community.
