Thousands take part in pro-Palestinian demonstration

Thousands of people attended a pro-Palestinian demonstration in Düsseldorf on Saturday. According to the police, the registered number of participants of one thousand was exceeded several times over. Before the start, the police confiscated several posters that relativized the Holocaust. There will be criminal proceedings against them. The police announced to the participants that they would take low-threshold and consistent action in the event of criminal offenses. The demonstration was to lead through the city center near the banks of the Rhine.

In Duisburg, fewer than a hundred people took part in a pro-Palestinian rally in front of the main railway station. The police filed three criminal charges against participants for incitement to hatred and condoning criminal acts. In Münster, around 250 people took to the streets in support of Palestinian rights. The police spoke of a peaceful course of events in the afternoon. The procession led from the main train station to the city center.

On October 7, Islamists from Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip, and other terrorists carried out a massacre of civilians in Israel. Since then, Israel's army has been using air strikes and ground troops against targets in the sealed-off coastal area.

The escalating conflicts in Gaza led to numerous demonstrations worldwide, including one in Düsseldorf that attracted thousands of participants. Regrettably, this event was marred by conflicts, with several instances of incitement to hatred and condoning criminal acts, resulting in criminal charges being filed. Meanwhile, the ongoing war in Gaza continues to claim innocent lives.
