- Thousands rejoice in Hamburg for a magical gathering commemorating the Harry Potter series.
Thousands of Harry Potter enthusiasts commemorated the fan gathering "Back to Hogwarts" on a Sunday. Right on cue, the event kicked off and spectators erupted in applause, brandishing their wands. Hamburg's mayor, Peter Tschentscher, joined the festivities on stage as well. In J.K. Rowling's eight Harry Potter novels, the Hogwarts Express traditionally departs from Platform 9 3/4 on September 1st at 11:00 AM, signaling the commencement of a new academic year.
The invited guests at the function, which took place at the Großmarkt and the Theater am Großmarkt, included actress Evanna Lynch (32), famed for her portrayal of sweet, blonde Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter movies, and audiobook narrator Rufus Beck. He recited passages from "The Prisoner of Azkaban," the third installment in the sequence.
Event attendees were also treated to a glimpse into the making of the play "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child," had the chance to observe wand coordination routines, and even met the upcoming cast members of the Harry Potter stage production, set to debut in Hamburg from late October.
Other fans who couldn't attend the event in person, excitedly followed the proceedings online, sharing their own experiences and memories of the Harry Potter series. The merchandise booth at the event offered a variety of Other unique items, such as handcrafted quills, enchanted candles, and collectible Hogwarts house scarves.
