Thousands expected at pro-Palestinian rally
According to the police, around 7,000 participants are expected at another pro-Palestinian demonstration in Berlin on Sunday. According to a police spokesperson, the rally under the name "Freedom for the people of Gaza/peace demonstration" was registered by an individual. The rally has been announced for 3 p.m. at Alexanderplatz.
At 2 pm, a "Solidarity March with Israel" is also due to start at Wittenbergplatz in the Schöneberg district, which was also reportedly registered by an individual. According to the spokesperson, 500 participants are expected. According to the police, the demonstration will march along Tauentzienstraße and Kurfürstendamm to Olivaer Platz.
On Saturday, around 9,000 people took part in a pro-Palestinian demonstration in Berlin. Several pro-Palestinian groups across Germany called for the protest march. The police spoke of a generally peaceful event, but also filed charges including suspicion of incitement to hatred.
Terrorists from Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip, carried out massacres among civilians in Israel on October 7.
