Thomas Köhler will continue to be in charge of the Berlinische Galerie as its director. The Cultural Administration recently announced that they have extended his contract up until January 2029. This means that Köhler will also maintain his position as the Managing Director of the Berlinische Galerie Foundation.

Köhler, who is 58 years old, has been managing the museum since 2010. The exhibition "Edvard Munch - Magic of the North" recently drew a lot of attention to the gallery. In a statement made by the Culture Senator, Joe Chialo (CDU), he said that under Köhler's leadership, the Berlinische Galerie has transformed into a "stimulating spot" that is also a "significant contributor to current topics" for the museum community in Berlin.
