German League - Thioune anticipates potential advancement: "Euphoria is premature"
Düsseldorf's coach, Daniel Thioune, is aiming for a sense of normalcy in anticipation of potential promotion to the Bundesliga. "It's normal to have external excitement. But inside our circle, the euphoria is not appropriate and doesn't accompany us," the coach remarked before Monday's (8:30 pm/Sat.1 and Sky) relegation second leg against VfL Bochum.
With a strong performance in the 3-0 win during the first leg on Thursday, Fortuna Düsseldorf is only steps away from their seventh promotion to the top division. However, Thioune advises against dismissing a struggling opponent. "Bochum will give their all in this game. We're ready for that. I have a lot on my mind these days and my team can adapt swiftly," he added.
Thioune is also counting on the support of the sold-out crowd of 51,000 spectators to fill the stadium with noise. "The boys need the energy from the fans," he said.
