Investigations - Thieves steal watches worth 100,000 euros in Glashütte
Three thieves are said to have stolen wristwatches worth a total of 100,000 euros from a store in the watchmaking town of Glashütte in the Eastern Erzgebirge. The 40, 41 and 47-year-old suspects were arrested, as the police in Dresden announced on Wednesday. According to previous findings, two of the suspects got out of a car on Tuesday and entered the store wearing masks, where one of them is said to have smashed display cabinets with a crowbar and removed around 30 watches. The second suspect had positioned himself at the door.
After the crime, they got into the car and drove off. The 51-year-old employee, who had remained calm during the crime, informed the police. The officers managed to stop the car in Liebenau (Sächsisch Schweiz-Osterzgebirge). The police found loot and tools of the trade in the vehicle. The police are investigating serious gang theft.
The town of Glashütte is known for its watchmaking industry, where very high-quality timepieces are usually produced.
