Despite having the option to leave, 21-year-old U21 national player Jan Thielmann has decided to stay with relegated 1. FC Cologne. The team revealed this news on Wednesday. "The pain of being relegated still stings deeply. Therefore, I felt it was crucial to know my status for the upcoming season as soon as possible. I put aside any existing offers to make a firm statement for FC Cologne as soon as possible," explained Thielmann. His contract with the club lasts until 2026.

The head of the club, Christian Keller, praised Thielmann's decision. "This reflects Jan's strong connection to the FC. He made his desire to remain with the club known swiftly and decisively," said Keller. Thielmann became a part of Cologne in 2017 when he was just 15 years old and made his Bundesliga debut in December 2019 at age 17.
