Zittau - Thief leaves tracks in the snow: and is caught

Police in Zittau have found and arrested a thief with the help of his shoe prints in the snow. The 41-year-old had broken into an elementary school in the district of Görlitz on Saturday evening, police said on Sunday. The suspect had gained access via a cellar door and stole three thermostat heads stored in the janitor's workshop. When he entered the school office via an emergency exit door, he accidentally triggered an alarm. The man then fled. Arriving police officers followed the suspected thief's snow tracks across a neighboring business premises and were able to apprehend him near the school. The criminal investigation department is investigating.
