Intense smoke emission from a regional train led to a major fire department response and track closure between Ilmenau and Martinroda in Thuringia. More than 15 people were evacuated, according to District Fire Inspector Sebastian Arnold. Emergency hammers were also used to exit the train. There were no reported injuries.

The train had stopped on an open stretch of track, and the affected locomotive was decoupled. Multiple fire departments were on the scene. The fire department and the operator of the affected railway currently suspect a technical malfunction as the cause, but this has not yet been confirmed. The track was closed for approximately three hours, and the affected train was towed away.

The initial suspicion of the cause of the intense smoke emission was a technical malfunction, potentially contributing to the growth in Smoking issues within the train. Despite the fire department's efforts, the exact cause of the Smoking growth remained unconfirmed.
