We've got some exciting weather ahead in Berlin and Brandenburg this weekend! The German Weather Service (DWD) predicts a mix of sunny spells and heavy rain with thunder towards the end of the work week.

On Friday, we'll see some breaks in the cloud cover, allowing for sunny intervals. However, in the Prignitz region, there might be the occasional shower. The evening will bring scattered powerful thunderstorms in the eastern half of Brandenburg and near the border with Saxony. These storms could lead to heavy rain of up to 15 liters in a short time, small hail, and strong gusts of wind. Elsewhere, it'll be relatively calm, with just a light breeze. Temperatures are expected to rise to 21 to 24 degrees.

From Berlin's heights to the north of Brandenburg, expect a cloudy and dry night. To the south of the federal capital, there could still be some showery rain and the occasional thunderstorm. The temperatures will drop to 15 to 13 degrees.

As we move into the weekend, Saturday will start off mostly sunny or cloudy and dry in many places. By Saturday afternoon, the southern half of Brandenburg will experience heavy thunderstorms, sometimes even reaching the Berlin area. These storms could bring heavy rainfall of 20 to 40 liters per square meter. In instances of multiple thunderstorms, up to 60 liters per square meter might fall within a couple of hours. Otherwise, only occasional showers can be expected. The temperatures will reach 23 to 25 degrees.

Saturday night will continue to see scattered showers and local thunderstorms in the south of Brandenburg, but elsewhere, the sky should remain clear. The lowest temperatures will be between 15 and 12 degrees. Sunday's weather will also feature some local showers and thunderstorms. In other areas, get ready for a changeable sky and heavy cloud cover. The wind will vary from light to moderate, occasionally reaching gusts. The temperatures will reach 21 to 24 degrees.
