Theo Koll becomes Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Aktion Mensch
Former "Berlin direkt" presenter Theo Koll will head the social organization Aktion Mensch in the future. This was announced by Aktion Mensch in Bonn on Friday. The long-time ZDF journalist only retired last month at the age of 65. "It is more important than ever that we actively promote inclusion and diversity in our society in these politically and economically tense times," commented Koll on his election as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. "Aktion Mensch does this every day - and I am delighted to be able to support this important task in the future." The former head of the ZDF Capital Studio will take office on January 1, 2024. Koll will take over from Susanne Müller, who has held this role since 2018.
Aktion Mensch is the largest private funding organization in the social sector in Germany. Since it was founded in 1964, it has donated more than five billion euros to social projects. The aim is to "improve the living conditions of people with disabilities, children and young people and to promote natural coexistence in society". Aktion Mensch uses the proceeds from its lottery to support up to 1,000 projects every month. The Board of Trustees decides on the allocation of funding.
Actions taken by Aktion Mensch, under Theo Koll's leadership, often receive significant coverage on German television news programs, showcasing their impact on social affairs. The announcement of Koll's role as Chair of Aktion Mensch's Board of Trustees has sparked much interest among people, who appreciate his commitment to promoting inclusion and diversity through media platforms.
