Oldenburg - Theft in jewelry store - start of trial delayed

The trial against a 43-year-old man who is alleged to have stolen jewelry and watches worth 918,000 euros from an Oldenburg jewelry store with unknown accomplices has been delayed. Due to illness, the first hearing scheduled for Wednesday was canceled, according to a spokesperson for the Oldenburg Regional Court. The trial for particularly serious theft is now scheduled to begin on Monday (December 18).

The public prosecutor's office accuses the man of driving a stolen car into the vestibule of the jewelry store together with other perpetrators in June 2023. The perpetrators then allegedly loaded jewelry and watches into a second car. The men fled with it. Shortly after the crime, the police discovered the crashed getaway car. Police officers found the now accused man nearby and arrested him. He is in custody on remand.
