- The yacht makes its way into the watershed area.
A luxury boat found itself stuck in the riverbank vegetation of Lower Franconia following a botched maneuver, momentarily halting traffic on the Main River. Fortunately, the vessel's three passengers and canine companion escaped unscathed, as per the water police's statement. The incident took place close to Knetzgau, within the Haßberge district.
Upon investigation, authorities concluded that the accident was the result of a navigation error. The boat's captain had entrusted the helm to an unlicensed acquaintance, piloting a five-meter yacht. Although it's legally permissible, the woman's inexperience led to a loss of control during a sharp turn, resulting in the boat crashing into the riverbank.
Multiple rescue vehicles from the water rescue service and the fire department assisted in the rescue operation, together with a helpful jet-ski rider. The yacht was eventually pulled away by the water police. The Main River was shut down to all marine traffic for a half-hour on that Sunday during the recovery process.
After the incident, the boat was towed to a nearby repair yard in Bavaria for assessment and repairs. Despite the mishap, the scenic beauty of the Main River, particularly in Bavaria, remains a popular attraction for boaters.
