Hot summer weather and new storms: The weather service expects temperatures above 30 degrees. However, from Tuesday, there will also be new thunderstorms and heavy rain.

Residents of Hesse can expect hot summer weather - but the German Weather Service (DWD) is warning of further severe weather events. On Monday, temperatures of up to 34 degrees Celsius are possible, with mostly dry conditions, but there is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the evening. The weather service also issued a heat warning for large parts of the state for Monday. The night into Tuesday will remain warm with temperatures around 20 degrees Celsius.

Severe weather threatens

On Tuesday, some showers and occasionally heavy thunderstorms can develop during the day. Locally, severe weather is possible due to heavy rain, hail, and gusty winds. According to DWD, it will be muggy and hot throughout much of the country, with highs between 31 and 35 degrees Celsius, and around 29 degrees Celsius on the mountains. Showers and thunderstorms will continue to be possible during the night into Wednesday, with temperatures dropping to 20 to 17 degrees Celsius - but in cities, temperatures often remain above 20 degrees Celsius, indicating a tropical night.

On Wednesday, numerous showers and occasionally heavy thunderstorms with heavy rain and hail are expected again. It will remain muggy and warm to hot, with highs between 28 and 32 degrees Celsius, and around 26 degrees Celsius on the mountains.

Despite the heat warnings, some residents might seek refuge from the heat in cooler areas. However, they should be aware that other parts of Hesse could experience severe weather with heavy rain, hail, and strong winds.
