The US Democrats are starting to vote on Harris as their presidential candidate.

Among Democrats, new hopes have emerged to defeat the Republican candidate and former President Donald Trump, since the 81-year-old incumbent Joe Biden announced on July 21 that he would not run again and instead endorsed the 59-year-old Harris. The day after, Harris announced that she had secured enough delegates for her nomination. In national polls, Harris trails Trump by a narrow margin, but her deficit is smaller than Biden's.

In the Democratic primary, several contenders see an opportunity to challenge Donald Trump, given Joe Biden's decision not to seek re-election. Despite trailing Trump slightly in national polls, Kamala Harris's deficit against him is narrower than Biden's previous one.
