Autobahn Company [or] Autobahn Ltd. - The upcoming completion of the Northern Salzbachtal bridge is imminent.

The second part of the new Salzbachtal Bridge on the A 66 in Wiesbaden is scheduled to be finished in its basic form on June 11, as per Autobahn GmbH. The following day, the fifth and last shift of the huge steel structure will take place. It'll move forward around 70 meters.

The company's representative shared with the German Press Agency that they're right on track for the mid-2025 traffic release schedule. The overall project costing €225 million includes two bridge sections over Wiesbaden's Salzbachtal. The southern section of this new crossing was unveiled in December 2023. It's been operational with both directions using the narrow temporary lanes.

The old, around 300-meter-long Salzbachtal Bridge was demolished in November 2021. The outdated bridge from the '60s needed to be closed for safety concerns as there were pieces of concrete falling off. This caused a halt in the A 66 between the Rheingau and Frankfurt, with approximately 80,000 vehicles a day. Subsequently, severe traffic jams ensued.
