- The university staff in Saxony continues to expand.

The workforce at Saxony's universities and medical facilities has seen a boost. By December 1, 2023, an estimated 48,600 individuals were employed within this field, as per the Statistics Office's reports. This figure denotes a surge of more than 300 employees (a 0.6% uptick) compared to the previous year. Going back to 2019, the employment count sat around 46,700 individuals, and it's been on an upward trajectory ever since.

Eventually, the 2023 growth solely concerned full-time positions (with approximately 700 additional workers), while part-time roles saw a drop (around 400 fewer team members). The universities experienced the most significant increase in staff (approximately 0.8%), followed closely by the universities of applied sciences (witnessing a 0.5% hike). Conversely, the employment count at art universities (-2.4%) and universities of cooperative education (-0.2%) saw a noticeable dip.

Despite the overall growth in the workforce, the decrease in part-time roles at universities and medical facilities was attributed to other factors, such as changing recruitment strategies or shifts in employee preferences. Moreover, the decline in employment at art universities and universities of cooperative education may be due to various other circumstances, such as budget constraints or shifts in student interest.
