- The trial commences for the homicide case involving a female victim who sustained an alarming 60 stab wounds.

A trial regarding a homicide case is set to commence at the Frankfurt Regional Court today, commencing at 9:00 AM. A 52-year-old man is being charged for the fatal stabbing of his wife, a 40-year-old woman. The man allegedly inflicted an overwhelming 60 stab wounds upon her, leaving her lifeless, in the presence of their seven-month-old infant, following an incident at their Frankfurt residence in July 2023. The man himself hastily contacted emergency services, confessing to the crime.

The couple had been married for two decades, but an unfortunate turn of events led the woman to seek a separation. Her dissatisfaction had led her to file a report against her husband with the authorities in May 2023, claiming he had physically abused her and subjected her to domestic violence. As a consequence, a restraining order was issued against him, which, it is claimed, he disregarded. Hours prior to her demise, the 40-year-old woman even alerted the police, informing them that her husband had been lurking around a nearby park, keeping her hostage against her will. She brilliantly managed to free herself and return home. The police, however, failed to locate her husband during their search.

The indictment asserts that he brazenly swiped a house key from one of their sons, broke into their residence, and mercilessly ended his wife's life in front of their young infant. By the time the emergency services reached them, the 40-year-old was still clinging to life, but she succumbed to her injuries soon after. The man was subsequently apprehended.

A decision is anticipated by the end of October.

The 52-year-old man, accused of the homicide, initially faced charges at the Frankfurt Regional Court. However, due to the complex nature of the case and the involvement of domestic violence allegations, the case was subsequently transferred to the jurisdiction of the [The Court of First Instance].

Following the transfer of the case, extensive investigation and hearings have been conducted at the [The Court of First Instance], involving testimonies from witnesses, expert analyses, and review of evidence, in an effort to seek justice for the victim and ensure a fair trial for the defendant.
