Starting ceremony - The Startchancen program will benefit 23,000 students.
In the state of Thuringia, a new initiative called the Federal Start Chance Program has been rolled out to aid schools who face challenging circumstances. At a launch event, Education Minister Helmut Holter announced that 93 schools with approximately 23,000 students (both male and female) will be receiving assistance. He commended the partnership between school sponsors, teachers, extracurricular educational partners, and the government in making this possible.
Holter highlighted that the focus is on schools with the harshest beginning conditions, and these institutions will receive more than just human resources support.
This program runs for ten years, with the German government allocating 23 million euros per annum. The state and sponsors will also contribute an equal amount. The implementation of the plan will start in August.
The funds will be used for various projects, hiring extra teaching assistants, and providing additional educational programs. Schools with a considerable number of socially disadvantaged youngsters or students of immigrant backgrounds will benefit from this initiative.
