Regional polls to take place - The SPD party will not accept any proposals from the AfD party in municipalities.

The SPD has made it clear they won't align with the election victors, the AfD, following their underwhelming performance in the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern municipal election. SPD's General Secretary, Julian Barlen, stated in Schwerin that they'll decline all AfD requests, refrain from submitting joint proposals with them, and won't back AfD candidates in local parliaments either.

The SPD secured only 12.7% of the votes in this past Sunday's election, contrasting the 15.4% they garnered five years ago. The AfD emerged victorious, receiving 25.6% of the votes. Barlen revealed they lost 15 seats in the MV district councils; a loss he called "painful." This outcome serves as a warning call to the coalition in Berlin.

The SPD, in collaboration with the Left, governs Schwerin. Barlen pointed out the significant positive changes in the state over the past few years, such as free kindergartens, the Rufbus system in rural areas, and discounted public transport tickets for apprentices and senior citizens.

The AfD's victory in the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania local elections has left the SPD with a significant obstacle, as they have pledged not to cooperate with the party in any municipalities. This stance was outlined by SPD's General Secretary Julian Barlen during a speech in Schwerin. The SPD's performance in these elections was disappointing, with only 12.7% of the votes, a significant drop from the 15.4% they garnered five years ago. Conversely, the AfD saw an increase in support, securing 25.6% of the votes, marking their success in the local election results. The EU, keeping an eye on the political landscape, will be interested in these local elections outcomes, as they could influence the broader political landscape of Germany.
