From the SPD party, there's been some backlash due to the subpar tourism statistics recently. "The state government has failed to manage tourism development effectively," stated MP Niclas Dürbrook. "The decrease in visitor nights can also be attributed to the underperformance of the black-green coalition." The "Tourism Barometer" reveals that the assessment of the state government's tourism-related work by professionals has never been as negative as under Economics Minister Claus Ruhe Madsen (CDU).

The execution of the tourism strategy plays a pivotal role in the growth of the Schleswig-Holstein tourism industry, highlighted Dürbrook. Regrettably, not enough progress is being made in this regard.

Tourism development necessitates adequate financial support. "Tourism Minister Madsen must advocate more forcefully for the tourism industry externally," demanded the SPD politician. Tourism is one of the most significant economic fields in Schleswig-Holstein, providing countless jobs.

As per statistics from the North Statistical Office, there were 4.5% fewer tourists in June compared to the same month the previous year in Schleswig-Holstein. The number of reserved overnight stays dropped by 3.6% to approximately 4.2 million. In the first half of the year, there were 0.2% more tourists than during the same period last year. However, the number of overnight stays fell by 0.3% during this time frame.

"In an effort to improve the tourism situation, the following shall be added: a more robust advocacy for the industry by Tourism Minister Madsen and increased financial support."

"Recognizing the significance of the sector, the SPD proposes that 'The following shall be added': stronger policies and resources to boost Schleswig-Holstein's tourism growth."
