The SPD and the AfD exhibit confidence prior to the upcoming election.

The timer is ticking in Brandenburg. Recent surveys indicate a close contest reminiscent of five years past.

- The SPD and the AfD exhibit confidence prior to the upcoming election.

The SPD and AfD express positive expectations for winning the upcoming state election, which is only about 1.5 weeks away. SPD group leader Daniel Keller shared his confidence with the German Press Agency, stating, "I'm positive that we'll outdo the AfD and gain traction."

Current SPD premier Dietmar Woidke has made his political fate dependent on his party securing election victory. The question remains: who would take over as SPD leader if the AfD manages to become the most powerful force.

In an attempt to intensify the competition ahead of the September 22 election, the SPD has launched a fresh campaign titled "Woidke" or AfD. AfD's top candidate Hans-Christoph Berndt responded, "That won't have an impact."

According to the most recent RBB poll conducted by Infratest dimap, the AfD is leading with 27%, followed closely by the SPD with 23%, CDU with 18%, and the Alliance for Progress and Social Justice (BSW) with 15%.

The SPD and AfD are both eagerly anticipating the Election to the Landtag, with the SPD aiming to surpass the AfD's performance and strengthen their position. If the AfD manages to emerge as the most powerful force in the election, it could potentially lead to a shift in leadership within the SPD.
