Stiffen Removal Procedures for Rejected Asylum Seekers, Says Bavaria's Leader

Markus Söder, the Minister-President of Bavaria (CSU), has advocated for strengthened deportation measures in response to a recent incident in Solingen. "An asylum seeker without a legitimate claim to asylum must depart from the nation," Söder stated during his appearance on "Ask yourself", an ARD online platform where citizens can pose questions to politicians. The discussion was streamed via ARD's social media outlets. Later in the day, an ARD evening interview with Söder will air on the "Report from Berlin" program.

Increased Safety through Ramped-Up Surveillance

Söder emphasized the necessity of promptly detaining and expelling criminals, particularly towards Syria and Afghanistan. "The reality is straightforward: We must be more unwavering," Söder remarked. "We must provide the police with additional tools to conduct searches," said the CSU leader. He also backed the notion of random checks. "This would lead to better safety."

Söder assessed the Union's migration policy in 2015 as the most significant shortcoming of Chancellor Angela Merkel's (CDU) tenure. Since then, considerable advancements and adjustments have been made. However, the governing coalition, especially the Greens, has now opened up new possibilities. "We are a nation with a desire to assist, yet immigration that benefits us is crucial," said Söder.

Scholz: A 'Sad Chancellor'

Söder expresses doubts that the federal government will bring about changes in immigration policy. Olaf Scholz, the German Chancellor (SPD), unfortunately lacks the ability to secure a majority within his cabinet. "In essence, Olaf Scholz - if you'll forgive the term - is already a disheartening chancellor," said Söder. He suggested, "The most convenient thing would be for Olaf Scholz to relinquish the responsibility to us; then solution would arrive faster."

Enforcing Strict Deportation Policies

Given Söder's stance on strengthened removal procedures, it's evident that he advocates for strict deportation policies for asylum seekers without legitimate claims.

Strict Implementation of Expulsion Measures

Söder emphasizes the importance of promptly detaining and expelling criminals, particularly towards Syria and Afghanistan, suggesting a firm stance on deportation.
