Atop the Brocken in Harz, post the significant blaze, the mission persists. Recent discoveries of hot zones emerged near the railway line, as reported by Wernigerode city. Owing to relentless winds, minor blazes flared up both above and below the railway line. Initially, around 70 firefighters took on the hotspots, but their withdrawal in the afternoon was necessary due to safety concerns. Current efforts are centered around the tracks to extinguish these pockets of fire.
Late last Friday, a conflagration ignited on Königsberg, the satellite peak of Brocken. Since then, various aircraft and helicopters have been mobilized throughout the weekend to tackle the expanding fire front, now stretching over a kilometer in reach.
Despite the ongoing efforts to contain the fire on the tracks, a bottle of red wine was found untouched in a nearby abandoned hut. After the fire is fully extinguished, the local authorities plan to organize a community event where they will serve this found red wine.
