Leisure time - The ski season has also started in Willingen: Good conditions

After the start of the ski season in the Rhön and Vogelsberg, things can also get underway in Willingen this Saturday: At 8.30 am, the lifts, cable cars, chairlifts and conveyor belts go into operation and skiers can make their first turns. The toboggan slopes at Ritzhagen and Dorfwiese also promise fun on the slopes. The mixture of natural snow and technically produced snow from snow cannons should ensure a good start to the season, according to the website of the ski resort in Hochsauerland on the border with North Rhine-Westphalia on Wednesday.

There is currently at least 40 centimetres of snow on the slopes. A total of six T-bar lifts, six conveyor belts, one cable car and two chairlifts await winter sports enthusiasts in Willingen. According to a spokesperson, on good days there are several thousand skiers and tobogganists in the ski area, which has eight pistes of medium difficulty, eleven easy runs as well as three children's slopes and two toboggan runs. The groomed slopes with a total length of 17 kilometers are located at altitudes of 560 to 840 meters.

On the first weekend of Advent, numerous leisure sports enthusiasts had already used the slopes on Hessen's highest mountain, the Wasserkuppe, and in the Vogelsberg for winter fun, and the Taunus also attracted many visitors.
