Political affairs - The senate of Berlin visits Lichtenberg.

On Tuesday, members of the Berlin Senate intend to visit the Lichtenberg district. Consequently, the usual Senate meeting will take place in Lichtenberg's town hall in the morning. This will be followed by a collaborative meeting with the district administration. Governing Mayor of Berlin, Kai Wegner, and District Mayor Martin Schaefer (both CDU) will share their thoughts publicly (12:00 p.m.) on the discussion topics.

Next on the agenda is a district tour by bus. Some of the locations include a city center where the Social Healthcare association is located. This organization works with nine doctors' practices to ensure elderly people receive proper medical attention.

Additionally, the group will visit the Berlin-Hohenschoenhausen Memorial Site. The site's director, Helge Heidemeyer, will outline various types and effects of political persecution during GDR times. The historical Stasi prison tour is also incorporated into the tour.

The group will pay a visit to a housing project by the state-owned construction company Gewobag, housing over 1,500 apartments. They will also stop by the family-run business, Greif Mietwaesch, established four generations ago. This business now supplies sustainable textiles for the gastronomy and hotel industry.
