"AI is an incredibly powerful, captivating and alarming tool," stated the Pope. The emergence of AI symbolizes a "genuine cognitive-industrial revolution," he said, but its use brings considerable risks and allows for "greater disparity between wealthy nations and developing countries, as well as ruling and oppressed classes."
In the afternoon, the Pope arrived at the venue Borgo Egnazia in Apulian southern Italy by helicopter. This is a G7 summit first-time occurrence with the Pope present. The Pontiff intends to engage in long conversations with several heads of state and government representatives, including some from the US, India, and Ukraine.
