Historic Landmarks - The planned use of Reinhardsbrunn Palace is showcased.
Multiple plans for the upcoming utilization of Schloss Reinhardsbrunn have been submitted. At 10 am today, Cultural State Secretary Tina Beer in Erfurt will provide insights on the ideal course of action for the site of this historically essential compound located in Friedrichroda within the Thuringian Forest. Earlier at an ideation contest, residents, groups, and institutions offered over 50 suggestions regarding the castle's future. A group of experts refined the most intriguing usage ideas.
Since 2021, the castle along with its park has been under the ownership of the state of Thuringia in Gotha. Previously, the state had attempted to seize this property, as its previous occupant had left the facility neglected for several years, leading the state to intervene via an emergency aid measure. This case is considered a pioneer in German heritage protection. The castle, which was established between 1827 and 1835, is the most significant Neo-Gothic castle complex in Thuringia. Since 2021, restoration work has been underway at the monument.
