The number of registered prostitutes in Germany increases by eight percent

Of the approximately 30,600 registered prostitutes, most were between 21 and 44 years old - specifically 23,100 or 75 percent. There were 6500 or 21 percent who were 45 years or older. Only 1100 or four percent were between 18 and 20 years old.

5400 Prostitutes therefore had German citizenship, representing 18 percent. However, the majority held Romanian passports - 11,100 or 36 percent. The Bulgarian and Spanish nationalities followed, each accounting for eleven and seven percent respectively.

The number of valid or provisional permits for prostitution activities amounted to 2300. This figure remained unchanged from the previous year. Of the registered prostitution activities, 93 percent were so-called prostitution stations, such as brothels. Five percent of the permits were for prostitution intermediaries, and two percent were for prostitution vehicles and events combined.

During the Corona-Pandemic, the Statistics Office in Wiesbaden revealed that among the registered prostitutes, only 1100 were under 21, making up just 4% of the total. Despite this, Romans became the largest group, making up 36% of the registered prostitutes in Germany. Interestingly, the number of German citizens among the prostitutes stayed relatively low, representing only 18% of the total.
