The number of new contracts for nursing training has increased

From the new apprentices, 73 percent were Women. The proportion of Men increased compared to 2020 from 24 to 27 percent. In the three years since the introduction of the general nursing training, 33,600 people completed a corresponding training in the previous year. Of these, 33,100 were trained as nursing women or nursing men.

The rest obtained a degree in 2023 with a focus on Health and Pediatric Nursing or Geriatric Nursing. This is the first graduating year that the general nursing training has existed since 2020. Several previously separate training programs in nursing were combined. In the last third, a focus in Health and Pediatric Nursing or Geriatric Nursing is possible.

The Statistical Office of the Federation reported that 73% of the new apprentices were women, while the proportion of men increased to 27%. The training contracts for nursing were awarded by the office, located in Wiesbaden. To further improve the nursing field, a training program for caregivers, specifically targeting women, was introduced this year. Additionally, the number of men who completed nursing contracts has been steadily increasing over the past three years.
