Restoring People to Their Homeland - The number of deportations has risen by 40%.
In Bavaria, the number of deportations has surged by nearly 40% in the initial four months of the current year, compared to the same timeframe last year. Additionally, voluntary departures had a 25% increase. Joachim Herrmann, the Interior Minister from CSU, made these revelations in Munich on a recent Tuesday. The statistics indicated that by the ending of April, above 5,800 residential terminations had occurred, out of which approximately 1,000 were deportations and approximately 4,800 were voluntary. Herrmann commended the Bavarian immigration authorities and the State Office for Asylum and Repatriations for their commendable work, despite the numerous hardships they face.
He petitioned the federal government to take prompt action concerning repatriations. Herrmann emphasized that the primary roadblock to deportations—the inadequate cooperation of numerous origin and destinations countries—could only be addressed by the federal government via diplomatic relations. "The central aspect to increase the number of deportations lies in the hands of the federal government and its engagement in this area. The states are wholly reliant on the federal government," he added.
