The New York Stock Exchange is examining a technical problem after multiple shares were paused.

NYSE stated that the technical problem is related to a mechanism meant to prevent stock prices from fluctuating excessively.

Numerous stocks have been halted due to trading beyond their limit up-limit down thresholds, as mentioned on NYSE's website. The list includes Chipotle and Berkshire Hathaway, the conglomerate led by renowned investor Warren Buffett.

Berkshire's Class A stock is shown as trading at only $185.10, which implies an astounding loss of 99.97%, according to Refinitiv.

It's uncertain if the problems are interconnected.

NYSE said it's still investigating and has not given any further comments to CNN.

This is a breaking news story and will be updated.
