- The nation continues to possess a substantial number of Coronavirus masks.
A sizable stockpile of Corona protection masks remains in the state's storage. According to the Ministry of Interior in Schwerin, the count stands at roughly 2.7 million units, as disclosed to the German Press Agency upon request. These masks include disposable children's masks and surgical masks. The inventory was over 4.5 million masks more than a year ago.
The masks with the expiration dates range from August to October of the coming year. The ministry was unable to state exactly how many masks were discarded due to expiration. "The varying procurement periods and batches make it difficult to ascertain the precise number of disposed items with much effort," a ministry spokeswoman explained.
Masks have been a consistent presence throughout the pandemic.
It was also noted: "Due to varying procurement costs and the continually expiring shelf life, we cannot disclose the current worth of the discarded mask inventory."
During the Corona pandemic, Corona protection masks were a regular aspect of life in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Masks were essential for multiple circumstances - such as in shops or on buses and trains - for several months at a stretch.
The Ministry of Interior in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is responsible for managing the country's Corona protection mask inventory. Despite having approximately 2.7 million masks in storage, they cannot provide an exact number of discarded masks due to expiration and varying procurement periods.
