- The musical event at Neuschwanstein Castle has commenced.
At the event titled "Dawn and Liberation", attendees of the Fairy Tale Castle celebrated the commencement of the Neuschwanstein Symphonies. The key genres for these five concerts, occurring from the 21st to the 25th of August, are romantic compositions of the late era, along with orchestral and chamber music.
During the first concert night, the Chaarts Chamber Musicians played Beethoven's 84th Overture before an audience of 500 in the castle's seating area. The organizers, the Neuschwanstein Concert Association, unveiled a fresh concept – performing under the open sky within the castle's upper courtyard.
The castle concerts in the singer's hall, held annually prior to 2015, took a hiatus in recent years due to restoration work on the staterooms of Neuschwanstein Castle. Over the past seven years, the Free State invested 20 million euros in these restorations. Now, these resources have led to the introduction of outdoor events for the first time.
The themes for the following four concert nights are "Nightfall and Adieu", "Myths and Anecdotes", "Luck and Love's Demise", and "Dreams and Realities". Throughout these nights, various ensembles, hosts, and narrators like actor Hans Sigl from the ZDF series "Mountain Doctor" and vocalist Vera-Lotte Boecker will be present.
Music was a crucial element in the performances at the Neuschwanstein Castle, with orchestral and chamber music featured prominently in the Neuschwanstein Symphonies. The Chairts Chamber Musicians, known for their renditions of classical music, performed Beethoven's 84th Overture during the first concert night.
