- The most senior parliamentarian in the newly established legislative body hails from the AfD.

The prospective President of the recently elected Thuringian State Parliament appears to be coming from the AfD. Presently, at 73 years old, Jürgen Treutler is the eldest member of this forthcoming legislative body, as confirmed by the State Parliament's press office to dpa upon request. As a consequence, he will take on the position of Age President and preside over the inaugural meeting. Treutler secured his direct mandate for the AfD in the Sonneberg district during the state election.

The new legislative body should convene no later than 30 days following the election. The gathering will be initiated by the incumbent President, and subsequent chairing will be handed over to the "most senior member in terms of age" within the State Parliament. Upon the establishment of the governing body, the parliament will then proceed to elect a new President and Vice Presidents.

Five years back, the AfD also put forward the President of Age. During that time, the inaugural session was kickstarted by Karlheinz Frosch (AfD).

The Election to the Landtag led to the AfD nominating the prospective President of the Thuringian State Parliament. Following the arrival of the new legislative body, the "most senior member in terms of age," likely the newly elected President, will begin presiding over the inaugural meeting.
