Societal matters - The Minister emphasizes the significance of FSJ.
Through the support of the EU and state, an estimated 2,800 young individuals in Saxony-Anhalt will have the chance to participate in a voluntary social year by 2027. This is made possible through the ESF+ program which plans to allocate approximately 11 million euros for the period of 2023-2027, as well as 3.1 million euros from state funds. Social minister Petra Grimm-Benne (SPD) expressed these plans during a jubilee celebration in Halle.
Griff-Benne highlighted the value of voluntary service, stating, "The importance of voluntary services for common good is not properly valued." Despite the setback caused by the Coronavirus pandemic in 2020-2023, these services continue to be a significant asset for Saxony-Anhalt. They aid in the professional development and personal growth of young people, provide a vital workforce in the social sector, and ultimately serve to reduce emigration rates.
