How much? (or a convocational interjection) - The mayor of Erfurt sworn in at the city council

Erfurt's Mayor Andreas Horn (CDU) was sworn into office at the first meeting of the new city council. As the oldest member, Manfred Ruge, who himself served as Mayor from 1990 to 2006, administered the oath, the city announced. This was the first time Ruge wore the chain of office of Erfurt's mayor.

Horn had been a city councilor from 2014 to 2019 and then served as Deputy Mayor for Safety, Environment, and Sports for five and a half years. "You were my introduction to the administration, which has a lot of potential," Horn said.

22 of the 50 city council members are new, elected for a five-year term. Horn emphasized the importance of finding solutions together, such as in school construction, security, affordable housing, and infrastructure development. He stressed the need for a collaborative approach at eye level.

Horn won the runoff election on June 9 against incumbent Andreas Bausewein (SPD) and took office on July 1.

The following meeting marked the first time Mayor Andreas Horn admitted new city council members. During his speech, Horn referred to the potential he had first seen in the administration from Manfred Ruge, his introduction to the administration.
