"The Masked Singer" enters the new season
This has never happened before on "Masked Singer": even before the new season began (Saturday, 8.15 pm, ProSieben and Joyn), the first celebrity voluntarily revealed his identity.
The "ringmaster" - a kind of panda with a top hat - doffed his hat in the ProSieben program on Wednesday evening - and it was... Matthias Opdenhövel, the host of the live show. Fooled. So it remains a secret which celebrities are masked and belt out hits week after week until they either get too few votes or win in the end. And only then do they reveal themselves.
Opdenhövel also announced an actual small innovation: Unlike in previous years, all costumes will only be presented in the first live show.
Ruth Moschner has a new member
There is also a change in the guessing team: Ruth Moschner, who never ceases to amaze the audience with her magical ear for celebrity voices, has a new permanent partner. Singer Alvaro Soler takes his place next to the presenter and wants to get to the bottom of the stars behind the masks.
The broadcaster quotes Soler: "I find it really blatant how secret it is everywhere here. You really don't know anything! It's like the Secret Service, simply absurd." Two years ago, he had already been a guest on the ratings team. "And I remember how blown away I was (...) by the fascinating masks and the artistic outfits."
According to Moschner, her colleague warmly welcomes her new partner: "I think that the female fans in particular will be very happy about his presence and his charm. Alvaro also proved that he is very good at guessing with his previous guest appearance on the panel, as he provided valuable input back then. That really enriched our team." The opening show will also feature extreme reportage master Jenke von Wilmsdorff as a guessing guest.
What is very unusual about the ninth season is that it will change the day of the week on one of the evenings so as not to compete with "Wetten, dass...?". The second edition will not run on November 25, but on November 26 at 8.15 p.m., i.e. on Sunday evening instead of Saturday evening. On November 25, Thomas Gottschalk will host "Wetten, dass...?" for the last time. "For our stars under the masks, saying goodbye to Thomas Gottschalk is a great moment that they want to spend with him, not against him," said presenter Opdenhövel. "Of course, ProSieben could not oppose this wish."
- The colorful costumes and sets of "The Masked Singer" will be unveiled simultaneously during the first live show of the new season on November 18, as announced by host Matthias Opdenhövel.
- Alvaro Soler, the Spanish singer, joined Ruth Moschner's guessing team for the new season of "The Masked Singer," expressing his excitement about the secretive nature of the show.
- Viewers looking forward to "The Masked Singer" on November 18 can expect a different day, as the show will be broadcast on Sunday evening instead of its usual Saturday slot, in an attempt to avoid competing with "Wetten, dass...".
