- The main event is the opening of the European Tour.

Tickets for the Fastnacht celebration on 11.11. at the Schillerplatz in Mainz will be allocated by lottery this year. The Mainz Carnival Association (MCV) announced that, for safety reasons, only 9,000 revellers will be allowed on the Schillerplatz. Those interested can register on the MCV's website from 14 August at 6 PM. By registering, you enter a draw and automatically participate in the lottery. If successful, you can order up to four tickets. Each ticket costs seven euros.

The MCV has redesigned the ticket sales process in response to last year's criticism. "We were overwhelmed," said MCV President Hannsgeorg Schöning. The tickets for the Schillerplatz celebrations sold out within a few hours. With the lottery system, they aim to ease the situation and align with major events like the DFB Cup final, which use a similar ticket allocation process.

The deadline for lottery registration is 31 August at 6 PM. If not all tickets are sold, there will be a second draw. Those without online registration access can enter the lottery by filling out a registration card at the MCV's business office in the Mainz city centre and posting it. These cards will also be included in the digital draw.

On the MCV's website, a note states, "The following is added: Registrants will be notified via email by 07 September if they have been selected in the lottery." During the draw, "The following is added: For transparency, the lottery results will be displayed on the MCV's website shortly after the deadline."
