Hamburg - The longest trombone concert in the world
With the longest trombone concert in the world, the organizers want to get people in the mood for the German Protestant Trombone Day in Hamburg 2024 today. The 24-hour concert will open at 10 a.m. with a prayer by Bishop Kirsten Fehrs. Immediately afterwards, she will give the starting signal for the first brass choir. A total of 24 wind choirs will be playing one after the other in a continuous concert. Each brass choir plays for 30 minutes, then pauses for half an hour and plays a second 30-minute set. The musical marathon culminates at 11.00 a.m. in the church service for the 1st Advent with lead pastor Astrid Kleist.
"The wind choirs have a lot of staying power, that's what sets us apart," said Daniel Rau, regional trombone director of the North Church and managing director of the Posaunentag. "With this concert, we would like to prepare the people of Hamburg for the German Protestant Trombone Day, which will be held in Hamburg next year from May 3-5."
