The European Football Championship is approaching fast, and preparations are already underway in Leipzig. Besides public viewings, a diverse entertainment program is being organized, featuring popular musicians.

The European Championship is in progress. - The Leipzig "Fan Zone" for the European Football Championships is under construction.

A week prior to the European Football Championship, the building of Leipzig's "Fan Zone" is in full progress. The organizer estimates up to 15,000 people can celebrate enthusiastically in front of two large fabric screens from June 14th. Especially during the four days in Leipzig - three group matches and one round of 16 - the organizers anticipate a surge in visitors with vibrant fan parades.

Apart from Berlin, Leipzig is the only venue in eastern Germany with a "Fan Zone," which will be open for all 31 tournament days. There's no entry fee.

Dutch Fans in High Demand

The match on June 21st between the Netherlands and France is expected to be a challenge for Leipzig city. According to the "Fan Zone" organizer, around 40,000 Dutch fans are anticipated.

Clueso, Die Prinzen, and More

Apart from broadcasting matches, the Fanfest features a captivating lineup of extras that includes a colossal Ferris wheel, a small football pitch, a gaming area, and many musical performances. The match on June 14th features the techno marching band Meute, Clueso performs on July 5th, Leipzig band Die Prinzen on July 9th, and Schlager fans can enjoy Dieter Thomas Kuhn on July 14th. Additionally, Chris Bröker, the reigning German freestyle football champion, will host workshops.

Leipzig's Relaxed Nightlife Rules

Since numerous matches commence at 9:00 pm, the city has loosened nighttime relaxation regulations - this includes not just the Fan Zone but also eateries, bars, and other locations. The games can also be shown outdoors after 10:00 pm, but only if the restaurant owners secure permits in advance.
